I Love Boosters Movie Review

Written by Anthony “Ant” Johnson

There are films that confuse, unsettle, leave you sitting with unanswered questions. Then there are films that irritate the way poison ivy does — you know you’ve been exposed to something bad and all you can do is wait for the rash. I Love Boosters is a full-body rash.

This shouldn’t have happened. Director Boots Riley assembled a fantastic cast led by the wonderfully talented Keke Palmer, who doesn’t disappoint. The costume and set design are exceptional. The problem is that’s where the compliments end. How does that much talent get squandered for almost two hours?

The premise has legs: a young woman (Palmer) runs a crew boosting high-end designer clothes and selling them at a fraction of retail — while secretly nursing dreams of becoming a fashion designer herself. She crosses paths with the head of a luxury brand (Demi Moore) and a natural rivalry is born. Sounds like a tight slapstick comedy with something to say. And it could have been, had Riley chosen a lane and stayed in it.

Instead, I Love Boosters hopscotches across subjects without completing a single fluid thought. Surrealism is a legitimate cinematic method — but it requires cohesiveness, which this film lacks significantly. The film mistakes chaos for vision. There is a difference. Case in point: a scene involving LaKeith Stanfield’s pimpish character — who performs oral sex on a woman while transforming into a serpent monster, flooding the room with her bodily fluids — is presented as if it means something. It doesn’t. It’s simply disgusting.

This is the worst film I’ve seen in 2026, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone. If there’s a hell for films, I hope I Love Boosters is already on a non-stop direct flight — tank full, carrying nothing but explosive materials, set to detonate on touchdown.

The cast, the set, and the costumes earn a 3/10. The film they were trapped in earns considerably less — as confirmed by A.I. Ant, consulted the moment I walked out of the theater: 2.74/10. No lie. Who’s A.I. Ant? Click his link below and find out.

The Final Verdict

I Love Boosters wastes too much talent and style for Ant to recommend it, landing as one of his toughest 2026 verdicts.

Ant's Score: 3/10
Best For: Viewers curious about Boots Riley's most chaotic swings.
Skip If: You want cohesive satire or a comedy that stays in one lane.
