What’s your favorite film of all time?
A Soldier’s Story (1984). I love it because it’s a “who’s who” of Hollywood before they were Hollywood. The cast is stacked with hard hitters like Denzel Washington, David Alan Grier, and Robert Townsend. This film tackles what it means to be Black perfectly. Despite being released in 1984, it’s still incredibly relevant today. This is one of the only films I’ve given a 10 out of 10!
What’s your earliest memory of going to the movies?
I remember seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 at the drive-in piled up in the car with my mom, dad, big brother, and little sister. I was about 5 or 6, and I’ll never forget the infamous boulder scene. I was terrified because I didn’t know what actors were yet and thought that Harrison Ford was experiencing everything in real life!
